25. How To Increase Your Study Skills

So Saul clothed David with his armor, and he put a bronze helmet on his head; he also clothed him with a coat of mail. David fastened his sword to his armor and tried to walk, for he had not tested them. And David said to Saul, "I cannot walk with these, for I have not tested them." So David took them off. Then he took his staff in his hand; and he chose for himself five smooth stones from the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag, in a pouch which he had, and his sling was in his hand. And he drew near to the Philistine. 1 Samuel 17:38-40, NKJV

Today, I want to show you the talk about How To Increase Your Study Skills. Welcome.

Jason Newman suggests 12 Study Skill tips. They are simple, straightforward, and will help you identify the learning strategy that is most efficient for you. 1 Samuel 17:38-40 above shows that you can achieve the most success in life by using practical, positive, legal methods that you are most familiar with.

Although they seemed weaker, David’s sling and stones proved more efficient for defeating the giant than king Saul’s armour. Jason Newman suggests:

There are three learning styles, Visual or based on sight, Auditory or based on hearing, and Tactile, based on the sense of touch. Identify which will work best for you find ways to adapt or code your class information in your preferred learning style.

1.   Study short and often.

2.   Set a specific goal for each study session. Prioritize assignments.

3.   Start assignments as soon as they are given.

4.   Study your most difficult subjects first.

5.   Review your notes regularly (each day for approximately 10 minutes right after class is ideal).

6.   Break up and vary your work (e.g., switch to another subject when you become tired of the one you’re working on).

7.   Stay on top of your work – doing a little consistently is easier than doing a lot all at once.

8. Learn "actively". This means doing something that will help facilitate learning such as writing or typing notes, creating a study guide/flashcards, or reciting and repeating the information out loud.

9. Active learning increases the likelihood of remembering the information later.

10. Use study guides/workbooks that are available with your textbooks as a method for quizzing yourself before a test.

11.Reduce interferences while you are studying. Find a quiet environment (leave your residence if there are distractions).

12. Attend all of your classes.

Use all these 12 tips as a lifestyle. Don’t compromise on your good habits. Stay focused on your academic goals and whatever happens, know that God will come through for you!
Continue to expect the best from yourself and continue to maintain a great attitude regardless whatever happens.
