44. YOU CAN DO IT!

Image
44. YOU CAN DO IT! For forty days, Goliath harassed Israel's army but young David rose to knock him out …permanently. King Saul warned, “Don't be ridiculous!” but David responded, “I have been taking care of my father's sheep and goats ...When a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock, I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death. I have done this to both lions and bears, and I'll do it to this pagan Philistine, too, for he has defied the armies of the living God! The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!” (1 Sam 17:32-37) Through trust in God, an 'I-can-do' attitude, David used his simple catapult and stones to gain a memorable victory! The Italian sculptor Agostino d'Antonio worked diligently on a large piece of marble. Unable to produce his desired masterpiece, he lamented, "I ca

43. NEVER GIVE UP Our topic today is NEVER GIVE UP! And today, I want to talk about Perseverance . I want to challenge you to never give up. Every now and then, everyone in life faces daunting situations. Things get so tough that the natural inclination is to give up, but Perseverance means Persistent determination . Many situations in life will call for perseverance especially when you have done all you possibly can yet nothing seems to be changing. For example, you might be grappling with a difficult course. It may even be one of those ‘doom’ courses that have attained notoriety for making casualties every session. As tough as some of your academic problems may be, you must never give up. You can overcome that problem. Others have overcome them in times past. Trust me, you too will overcome. Dealing with discouragement and fear in your academic life Discouragement and fear prevents people from persevering until their turnaround comes. The way to deal with di

42. HEAD OR TAIL?

42. HEAD OR TAIL? In Deut 28:13, God declares, “And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them”. I believe that God will grant you divine lifting and intervention as you read this message today. God’s blessing has made you head although the enemy constantly seeks ways of preventing your covenant headship. NEGATIVE VALUE SYSTEM One way the enemy hinders people is through deceiving them to adopt a negative value system that inspires poor choices, relationships and habits. The result is a poor quality of life and academic struggles. For example, if you were very smart as a much younger person, but today, are either average or struggling academically, check up on your value system. What practices do you consider as okay? If the enemy has cunningly instituted a negative value system in your life, it’s time to ma

40. DO YOU NEED A MIRACLE?

40. DO YOU NEED A MIRACLE? Welcome to Intervention Radio produced by VISION BUILDERS, and I am your host Tope Banjo. Every week on Intervention we minister to and pray for Undergraduates to receive God’s intervention in their academics and life. This week my question is, do you need a miracle? A miracle can be defined as an extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs . Miracles are usually events that occur contrary to the laws of nature. In other words, a miracle is something that should not naturally happen but which God makes happen anyway, for example, the virgin birth. Every hour in life miracles occur as God’s sovereign intervention in the lives of human beings. Some we hope for, but most we don’t expect. While ministering to a group of undergraduates, the Lord told me that He wanted to miraculously intervene in the situations that some of them were facing. However He wanted me to distinguish between academic problems that the person conc

38. DELIVERANCE FROM TROUBLE

38. DELIVERANCE FROM TROUBLE “They wandered in the wilderness in a desolate way; They found no city to dwell in. Hungry and thirsty, Their soul fainted in them. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He delivered them out of their distresses. And He led them forth by the right way, That they might go to a city for a dwelling place. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!”   Ps 107:4-8 Academic trouble is something that no student desires. Just the thought of it hinders focus and concentration which is required for achieving the best possible results. However, not every problem an undergraduate encounters is a work of the devil, in that sense. Sometimes the person in the problem is the very cause of it. While ministering to some undergraduates the Lord told me to make them distinguish between who needs miraculous help and who needs a change of attitude. It is not always you need a
